AbstractResources and environment are the basic conditions for human’s survival, reproduction and development. Natural resources, including forest resources, are not only the material inputs source which required by the coordinated development of regional economic, but also the environment which formed and maintained for human’ production and life. While consume the resources to coordinate and develop the regional economy, the waste discharged, which bring a certain of pressure to the resources and environment. With the expansion of economic system, especially after the industrialized and development of regional economic is accompanied by resources shortage and ecological environment deterioration. At present, all countries in the world have been subject to this problem in varying degrees. It is particularly important that to understand and co-ordinate correctly the relationship between forest resources and coordinated development of regional economies.On the basic of a comprehensive analysis of the basic theory of forest resources, the theory of regional economic coordinated development, the role of forest resources and the affected factors of forest resources changes, this paper expounded the connotation and features of regional economic coordinated development, and set the foundation for the relationship between the protection of forest resources and the coordinated development of regional economies. Based on goals of the protection of forest resources and coordinated development of regional economies, and used the SWOT to analyze the external opportunities and threats and the internal strengths and weaknesses of the forest area, so the strategic objective of the protection of forest resources and coordinated development of regional economies seems practicable in generally.
