AbstractDuetotheuniqueopticalproperties,goodwatersolubilityandbiocompatibilityadvantages,water-solubleconjugatedorganicmaterialshavebeenwidelyusedinsensing,biologicalimaging,drugdelivery,photodynamictherapyandsoon.Soithasbecomearesearchhotspotinoptoelectronicinformationmaterials.Firstly,becausetheuniqueopticalpropertiesofwater-solubleconjugatedorganicmaterialsandgoodwatersolubility,itcanbewellabsorbedbycellsandrealizedcellimaging.Secondly,theexcitonscanbeefficientlytransmittedoverlongdistancestoreduceelectronorenergyacceptorsites,whichmadetheconjugatedorganicmaterialfluorescencequenchedoracceptorfluorescencesignalamplified.Soitcanbeusedashighsensitivityinformationsensor.Thirdly,sincethewater-solubleconjugatedorganicmaterialhavingrigidsegmentsandsoftsegments,thisparticularstructuredeterminesitsself-assemblybehaviorcanoccurinaqueoussolution.Therebyitcanbeusedinentrappingdrugsanddrugdelivery.Basedonthisbackground,aseriesofwater-solubleconjugatedorganicmaterialsweredesignedandsynthesizedandtheirphotophysicalproperties,self-assemblybehaviorsweregiveninthispaper.Besides,PTP5withlowcytotoxicityandgoodbiocompatibilitywasappliedincellimaging.(1)Anoveloligo(phenyleneethynylene)(TP1)wasdesignedandsynthesized.ThestudyingofphotophysicalpropertiesindicatesthattheTP1fluorescenceisalmostcompletelyquenchedwiththeadditionofFe3+.AndthefluorescenceintensityofthisTP1-Fe3+systemenhancedtoagreatextentwhentheF-wasaddedintothewiththissystem.Soagoodopticalsignalconversionbetween“OFF-ON”wasrealized.Fluorescence-basednatureofthissystemcanswitchtobuildasimplechemicallogicgates.Basedonthefluorescentswitchpropertiesofthissystem,wecanbuildasimplechemicallogicgates.(2)Anoveloligo(phenyleneethynylene)brush(OPEN+)wasdesignedandsynthesizedwithhighchargedensityviaatomtransferradicalpolymerization(ATRP).Itsphotophysicalproperties,self-assemblybehavior(particlesize,morphology)andthestabilityofself-assemblyinaqueoussolutionwasstudiedandtheresultsshowthatOPEN+hasself-assemblybehaviorinaqueoussolutionandfor
