ABSTRACTThecounterflowflatflamesareusedtostudycombustiontheoryinusual.Basedonasimplifiedphysicalmodel,acounterflowflatflameexperimentsdiagnosticsystemisbuilttostudytheflamestructureandthecharacteristicsofpollutantemissionsintheone-dimensionalcounterflowODPP/OESCflamesbybothexperimentaldiagnosticandtheoreticalanalysis.ExistingonoppositesidesofthestagnationplaneforODPP/OESCflamesunderexperimentalconditions,thetwoflamezonesconsistofapremixedflameformedinthefuel-richmixtureandanonpremixedflameformedbetweentheproductsofthisrich,premixedflameandtheopposingairstream.Thetemperatureofthepremixedflameislowerthanthenonpremixedflame.Comparedwiththepremixedflatflamewhosefuel-sideequivalenceisabove2.0,thephenomenonofheaveexistsinthenonpremixedflamewhosefuel-sideequivalenceisbelow2.0.Increasingfuel-sideequivalenceratio,orreducingtheconcentrationoftheoxygen-dilutedinthefuel-richmixtureortheconcentrationofoxygen-enrichedintheoxidant,itisshorterforthedistancebetweendoubleflames,thinnerforthethicknessoftheflame,lowerfortheflametemperature.Besides,simulationswiththeCHEMKINsoftwareshowthatmodel-datacomparisonsfortemperaturevariationandthepollutantemissionsvariationagreewellwiththeexperiments.Comparedtofull-premixedflameandpartiallypremixedmethane/aircounterflowflame,theNOxemissionsoftheODPP/OESCflamesremainunchangedwhiletheCOemissionsarereduced.Furthermore,itishelpfultoreducetheCOandNOxemissionstoreducefuel-sideequivalenceratioortheconcentrationoftheoxygen-dilutedinthefuel-richmixtureortheconcentrationofoxygen-enrichedintheoxidant.So,inconclusion,itispreferableforΦP=1.3forthefuel-sideequivalenceratio,ΦT=0.95forthetotalequivalenceratio,18%fortheoxygendilutedconcentrationand25%foroxygenenrichedconcentration.NOxemissionchangeslittleandCOemissionisreducedby48%bycomparisontopartiallypremixedmethane/aircounterflowflames,whentheequivalenceratioofthepremixedflowisthesame.IIKEYWORDS:oxygendilutedpartiallypremixed/oxygenenrichedsupplementalcombustion(ODPP/OESC),counterflowflames,flamestructure,ni
