iii iii 中文摘要 词汇历来被认为是语言的基础 因此在语言教学和语言测试中应该得到体 现 但长期以来 英语词汇教学与测试经常在缺乏语境的条件下进行 教学与 测试的重点往往是词汇知识 很少涉及词汇技能和策略 学生过多依赖词汇表 学习词汇 结果是易忘记 易混淆 且不会使用 词汇技能和策略是词汇能力 的重要组成部分 对于母语为非英语的学生来说尤为重要 因为他们日常接触 或使用英语的机会甚少 更需要词汇技能和策略来完成交际目的如阅读 写 作等此外 英语词汇量如此之大 课堂教学不可能也没必要涉及所有词汇 随着我国加入世贸组织和对外改革开放的不断深化 大学外语教学要求越来越 高 然而课时却并未增加 有的学校反而在逐步减少 因此外语课堂更应该为 学生提供使用语言的环境 教给他们理解和使用英语的技能和策略 把英语学 习拓展到课堂以外 这其中包括词汇技能和策略的教学 Read (1997) 提出交际词汇能力communicative lexical ability的 概念 包括词汇知识 vocabulary knowledge 和策略 lexical skills/strategies这为我们重新认识词汇能力奠定了基础 词汇知识主 要包括 词汇形态 词汇意义和词汇使用 这三部分都可以从领会性 receptive和表达性productive两方面进一步区分 词汇技能和策略 也有领会性和表达性之分 而且有些技能和策略 如在语境中通过猜测来理解 词义inferring lexical meanings from context则更为积极active 在教学中应该得到更多的重视 在对词汇能力有了更准确认识的基础上 我们设计出语境中的词汇理解和 运用测试范型试卷 包括三种题型词库型完型填空 (Banked Cloze), 翻 译英译中(Translation)及 段落填空 (Paragraph Completion) 本文 较详尽地介绍了试卷设计和开发的各具体环节 并从定性和定量两个方面对试 卷做了效度研究 定量研究主要是对范型试卷的采样数据进行描述分析和相关 分析 定性研究包括考生的问卷调查和 内省法 研究 分析结果表明本套试 卷采用的三种题型具有较理想的效度 语境中的词汇理解和运用测试能够更全面地测试词汇知识和策略 将会对 大学英语词汇的教学产生良好的反拨作用 帮助学生采用更有效的 依赖语境 的词汇学习方法 而不是单纯依靠背诵词汇定义 这样 不但学生学习词汇的 效率能够得到提高 而且对词汇理解和词汇运用都有更深层次的掌握 关键词 词汇知识 词汇技能和策略 语境中的词汇理解 语境中的词汇 运用 交际词汇能力 词汇测试 ii ii Abstract Vocabulary has always been received as the basic building blocks of a language and has, therefore, been playing an important role in language teaching and testing. However, for quite a long time, vocabulary teaching and assessment have been focused on vocabulary knowledge, often conducted in a discrete and context- independent manner, with scant attention being paid to vocabulary skills/strategies. With the introduction of communicative lexical ability (Read, 1997), the idea of vocabulary skills/strategies required for vocabulary comprehension and production in context began to attract attention from both language teachers and test designers.
