AbstractInthispaper,frictionstirlapjointof3mmthickplatesofLY12(M)、LF6andLY12(CZ)aluminumalloyswereconductedusingthecylindricaltoolwithleft-handandright-handthreadthatthelengthofpinis3.3mm.Theinfluenceofpingeometry、weldingprocessparametersandmaterialpropertyoninterfacemigrationwasinvestigated，andthetensile-shearstrengthoflapjointswastested.Thetransferbehaviorofplasticizedmetalintheweldthicknesswasinvestigatedtoobservethedistributionofthehorizontaltracingmaterial,andcombiningtheforceofstirtooltoplasticizedmetal,theformationmechanismofinterfacemigrationwasanalyzed.Theresultsindicatethatthepingeometry、weldingprocessparametersandmaterialpropertyareimportantfactorsinfluencingthemigrationoflapinterface.Themigration-heightofinterfacesatbothsidesofweldnugget,movingtowarduppersurfaceofweldsweldedbythetoolwithleft-handthread,isgreaterthanthatmovingdownwardweldedbythetoolwithright-handthread.Usingthetoolwithright-handthread,theeffectivewidthoflapweldsincreasesobviouslywiththeincreaseofthediameterofthepin,whilethemigration-heightofinterfaceincreasesfirstlyandthendecreases.Withtheplungedepthofshoulderandtheweldingspeedincreasing,themigration-heightofinterfaceincreasesresultedfromthestrengtheningofthesucking-extrudingeffect,astheweedingspeedexceeding47.5or60mm/min,themigration-heightofinterfacewouldreducesowingtotheweakeningofthesucking-extrudingeffect.Astothelapweldsofdissimilaraluminumalloy,thematerialpropertiessuchasyieldstrengthandthermalconductivityareimportantfactorsaffectingthemigrationofinterface.Iftheloweryieldstrengthforthesheetplacedonthebottom,themigration-heightofinterfacewillbeshorter;ifthelowerthermalconductivityforthesheetplacedonthebottom,thedeformation-widthofinterfacewillbeshorter.Thetransferbehaviorofplasticizedmetalinweldistheessentialreasonwhichaffectsthemigrationofinterface.Theformationofmigrationinterfacesatbothsidesoftheweldnuggetaredeterminedbythecombinedactionofthethreefactorssuchastherotation-frictionactionofplasticizedmetalinweldhorizontaldirection,the
