1.1 Rationale of the Research
The present research centers on the periodicity of written dialogues in English
textbooks for senior high school (Oxford/Shanghai Edition). It is tentative since little
research has been done and thus little literature can be found on the practice of
periodicity study of written dialogues in English textbooks. Despite the fact that this
field in the linguistic domain is relatively less-explored, the topic is chosen for three
