Rapidly increasing energy demand from emerging markets. Decreasing production from existing rigs must be more than offset by new developments. New production sites are more challenging than old ones (offshore, deepwater). Competitive Environment Competitors: Increasing competition from new players, mainly from China and India. New players are still small in size and big in number, but consolidation is expected. Suppliers: Major players in mining concentrating market share through mergers and acquisitions. Steel suppliers for welded pipes also increasing scale and market power. Rapidly increasing prices of most raw materials due to competing demand from Asia.
