Single-phase induction motors take smaller space and use less energy than a three-phase one, in addition to its convenience of design and production. In recent years, the design standard of a single-phase asynchrony machine has become higher and higher. It calls for not only a better performance, but also for paying more attention to the accuracy of design and the development of CAD technology. In this essay, author introduced the background information of design and application of single-phase induction motors in the first few pages. With the number of page increasing, the author demonstrated recent domestic and international situations of the technology to design single-phase induction motors and explained the research route of author’s practice designing a single-phase induction machine. Some information of applications of single-phase asynchrony motors in daily life. The principles of single-phase induction motors were introduced as same as the applications.
