verbe用法

I was asked today how English verbs work with their objects, especially when there are more than one objects. Some English verbs come with their object(s) in two forms, but some do not. You need to know the rules. I put some common verbs here for your reference. See the examples below to see what I mean: Angela is giving me a letter. = Angela is giving a letter to me. My dad bought me a computer. = My dad bought a computer for me. 1. Verbs that take both forms (sb to sb) award, bring, deny, feed, give, hand, kick, leave , lend, offer, owe, pass, post, promise, read, sell send, serve, show, take, teach, tell, throw, write E.g. The government awarded him a medal of merit. = The government awarded a medal of merit to him. There search will bring human society a brighter future. = The research will bring a brighter future to human society. 2. 1 Verbs with One Form (sb – only) allow My doctor allows me one sweet per day. ask My friend asked me a question. bet My friend bet me ten dollars. charge My friend charges me nothing. cost The book cost me twenty dollars. fine The judge fined him $100.. save My friend saved me a lot of time. spare She spared me the pain of breaking up.. tax They taxed us $5,000. tip He tipped them 15%. wish My friend wishes me good luck. 2.2 Verbs with One Form (to sb – only) announce He announces the plan to us. confess He confessed his plan to the agent. contribute He contributed money to us for our project. convey They conveyed their sympathies to the widow. declare He declared his intentions to her. describe She describes the plan to us. deliver He delivered the letter to his family. explain He explains the plan to us. donate He donated money to them. explain He explained the problem to the us. introduce She introduces the plan to us. 3. Verbs that take both forms (sb for sb) bake He baked me a cake. / He baked a cake for me. build He built them a playhouse. / He built a playhouse for them. buy She bought me some ice cream. /
