EXPAND COOPERATION AND BUILD THE FUTURE TOGETHER Peace and development are the subject of the world at present. After the Cold War, East Asia has kept the basic peaceful situation and a prosperous development in economy till now. In recent years, East Asian Security has achieved some positive progress. Each participant pays more and more attention on security dialogue and cooperation, which creates a favorable foundation for the East Asian security and stability. But at the same time, we must admit that the security in East Asia still faces lots of hidden dangers and challenges. Firstly, the lack of trust between countries still exists, the state of tension between some countries is worrying. The North Korean Nuclear Issue is a typical instance. Now, the North Korean Nuclear Issue, which faces a variety of uncertain factors, is of great importance in the process of East Asian Security. With the process of solving the problem step by step, each participant should devote more energy and courage so that we can solve the problem successfully. Secondly, the South China Sea dispute has aroused people’s more and more attention these years. People have interests in it because it refers to great economy benefit and strategy benefit. It will take a long time before we finally sort out the dispute from the root. Thirdly, compared with other regions of the world, the imbalanced development situation in Asia-Pacific region is more obvious, which can result in unexpected conflicts and contradictions. Besides, the terrorism, extremism and the separatism activities take place now and then beyond our expectation. What is more, some so-called non-traditional threats such as smuggling、deal in narcotics and sea rover are still increasing, which disrupts the calm circumstances of some related countries. Above-mentioned problems reflect the basic condition of East Asian Security. International security environment is changing all the time, so our ideas should also keep up with it. Base
