AbstractSincethereformandopeningup,ourcountryhasobtainedtherapiddevelopmentofsocialandeconomic,butalsobroughtaseriesofnegativeeffects,mainlyintheenergyshortagesanddamagetotheecosystem.Hydropowerisarenewablecleanenergy,andhasgoodregulatingperformance,soitbecomesthefocusofourcountrysenergydevelopment.Althoughthetotalwaterresourcesishighinourcountry,unevendistribution,lowerinpercapitaandwaterpowerutilization.Thereforestrengthenthehydropoweroperationandmanagement,tocarryoutreservoiroptimaloperation,conjunctiveoptimaloperationofinter-basinCascadedHydropowerStations,hasanimportantpracticalsignificancetoimprovetheutilizationofwaterresources.Themainworkisdescribedas:Thecurrentresearchonreservoiroperationathomeandabroadisbrieflydescribedatfirst,then,theproblemsontheconjunctiveoptimaloperationofCascadedHydropowerStationsareanalyzedandcollated,themathematicalmodelasthegoalofmaximizingthetotalgeneratingcapacityofthesystemisestablished,andalsotakingfullaccountoftheconstraintsofeachreservoir.Inaddition,forthesolvingmethodsoftheproblemofoptimaloperation,itintroducestwodeterministicoptimizationalgorithm—theprogressiveoptimizationalgorithm(POA)andthedecomposition-coordinationprincipleofthelargescalesystem,andappliesthePOAtosolvetheproblemoftheThreeGorgesandQingjiangCascadedHydropowerStationsindividuallyoptimaloperation,gettingsatisfactoryresults.AgainsttheproblemsontheconjunctiveoptimaloperationofThreeGorgesandQingjiangCascadedHydropowerStations,thepurposeandsignificanceoftheresearcharefirstanalyzed.ConsideringthepowerassociationofthetwoCascadedHydropowerStations,themethodofdecomposition-coordinationprincipleofthelargescalesystemisusedtosolvetheproblemofCascadedHydropowerStationsconjunctiveoptimaloperation,comparativeanalyzestheresultsofindividuallyoptimaloperationandconjunctiveoptimaloperation,provesthecorrectnessoftheconjunctiveoperation.Finally,theimplicitstochasticoptimizationmethodontheotherhandcontentisstated—developmentofreservoiroperationrulesbasesontheresultsofdeterministic
