College Contest Training Lab1 – Get started with the “Hello World Example” Purpose The purpose of this lab is to demonstrate how to create, import, build and run a basic CCS project on EVM with Code Composer Studio v5 (CCS). The detailed operation guide and snapshot will help user for better understanding. In this lab, we use CCS v5.4.0.00091 and EVM6657 as the example for the following demonstration. Task 1: Create CCS Project If you don’t have an existing project, you can create a new one. 1) Open the CCSv5, select an existing folder or build a new folder as the workspace folder, several projects, with respective properties, can be opened in a workspace. 2) After open CCSv5, switch to the “CCS Edit” view, click the “File”-“New”-“CCS Project” Fill the project name (we use “Hello_World_C6657” in the example), choose the “C6000” in “Device Family”. In “Device Variant” select one of the below two options. a) “Generic devices” “Generic C66xx device” b) “C66xx Multicore DSP” “TMS320C6657” Select the correct “Endianness” (we use “big” in the example) and proper “Compiler version” (we use “TI v7.4.2” in the example) If you want to use the template, please select “Project templates and examples”, choose the related templates (we use “Hello World” in the example). The click “Finish” to finish the project creation. Note: Below options with red label must be selected when build project, while all the other options can be modified later if need. 3) You’ll see the new project on the CCSv5: Task 2: Import CCS Project If you have an existing project, you can alternatively choose to import the project other than create a new one. 1) Click “File”-“Import” 2) Choose the correct “Input Source Type” then click “Next” 3) Choose “Select search-directory”, then “Browse” the folder your project located then click “OK” 4) Select the project you want to import and click “Finish” to finish the import procedures 5) Then you’ll see the imported project on CCSv5 Task 3: Build CCS Project 1) B
