Th The Application of “Catfish Effect” in English Teaching in Secondary Vocational School I I Abstract As the successful holding of Beijing Olympic Games, China has been engaged in more frequent communications with other countries. English has become the most widely used language in various fields, and has also been ranked as one of the most important courses. However, the current development situation of secondary vocational English education in China is far from satisfaction. On one hand, the most secondary vocational students have some difficulties in English learning. They are lack of motivations and not keen on learning English, due to strong fear of difficulties. In English class, they feel tortured; they neither open their mouth to speak English, nor finish their homework after class. On the other hand, English teaching in vocational schools is still based on the traditional cramming method with which teacher speaks while students listen. Teachers seldom interact with students, thus for those students, the capability cultivation is ignored, their thoughts are limited and the potential to learn is also restricted. Thus, how can we stimulate students to learn English? How can we encourage them to actively participate in the whole process of English class? And how can we change the class of knowledge copying into that of knowledge pursuing? According to my years of personal practice, English teaching is closely related to the psychological process. If teachers can apply the psychological effects to English class, more effective results will be attained. Therefore, in this paper, a profound exploration has been carried out in the application of the “catfish effect” which is one of the psychological effects in the English teaching of secondary vocational school. The paper is divided into six chapters as follows: Chapter one is the introduction. This chapter introduces actual application of “catfish effect” in management and pedagogics on the basis of the research
