The profession had made great contributions for our country since it was established in more than 60 years. With the transformation of society, Harbin institute of welding professional scientific research mode, great changes have taken place. Through the interview method, literature analytic method, this article details the Harbin institute of welding professional scientific research activities in different historical period, as well as the scientific paradigm change, and analyses the advantages and disadvantages that the changes bring. In different historical period, how the research content was determined, how to mobilize resource, the value of scientific research output have been changing so much. In 1950, 60 s, our country had urgent needs for engineering talent, after the establishment, the welding major did a lot of research activities for our country in the 50, 60 s. Based on these content on the scientific research activities, outlines the Harbin institute of welding professional scientific research pattern characteristics in this period. Its research pattern was combined with the actual national demand. The resource mobilization mechanism was flexible. When the scientific research was finished, the application value .was very strong. After the reform and opening-up policy, each field in China has gradually turned regular, Harbin institute of welding major has been developed a lot.
