Theoretically, by the economic effect, space effect and ecological effect which are begetted by the economic developments result of improving the environmental quality of economic development, reasonable planning economic scale, optimizing the structure of economic development, increasing land utilization efficiency, protecting urban ecology, promoting the development of small town, economic development can promote the realization of urban internationalization and urban modernization, and it will improve the urbanization level, accelerate citys development finally. Read from model, this paper is based on the economy development and urbanization levels of several years, establishes a regression model between economy development and urbanization, and this model can reflect the role of economic development in an area ocularly in this areas urbanization process. On the basis of theoretic analyze, this paper analyses the characteristic of Chongqing’s urbanization development and its important function in socio-economic development. And then discusses the economy development of Chongqing and its impact on the urbanization process especially. Its this papers point of view that Chongqings economy development is a foundation of its urbanization, it optimizes the urban structure and improves city operation efficiency and modernized level, it has positive meaning to the urbanization of Reservoir area of Three Gorges, urban ecologys optimization and the development of small town.
