So a special group called peasant-worker emerged as the times require. They have gradually become an important force in the urbanization process, and tried to achieve their social identity change through the non-agriculturization. Admittedly, the peasant-worker’s number and scale are becoming more and more. By the 1900s, the shift to city about farmers replacing rural township enterprises had become the main channel to absorb rural surplus labor and promote farmers’ occupational mobility. Especially the peasant-worker’s amount reached 252780 thousand in 2011. However, the peasant-workers not only have encountered substance disorders, but also have deeply mired in difficult position about system, culture and mentality in the process of integrating into city. Therefore some undesirable phenomenon such as status weakness, identity illegality and name stigma, largely appeared. Then they made a specific distance between the peasant-worker’s economic (occupation) identity and social identity, which named identity discord. So this article first explores the transformation process of peasant-worker’s identity from history dimension and system dimension, and concludes visualized modern barriers in it. These barriers include system barrier, culture barrier and self-organizing barrier. The system barrier appears in the household-registration system and its derivative system. The culture barrier appears in habitus and symbol. The self-organizing barrier appears in power and prestige.
