Through comprehensive renovation and landscape construction, It promotes the river environment and network to more reasonable, and thus to improve the urban environment, enrich the city connotation, and inherit urban culture. Water culture as the important element and soul of urban water planning and water landscape construction, integrate the rich culture into the water landscape and play its important function value, which can enhance the citys image, and create waterfront space that is harmony between man and water. On the basis of conducting and researching a large number of practical cases at home and abroad, this study analysis the water cultural forms and classification at different times and in different regions, and research the function, values and carrier of water culture, which deep mining water culture elements and building water cultural landscape planning and design framework, and then combined with water system improvement and application examples in Xian construction process of international metropolis.
