Study on the Development of the Characteristic County Economy in Anhui Province Abstract As put forward in the Third Plenary Meeting of the Sixteenth CPC, the economic development in the county is strategically important to the national economic development and vigorous efforts should be taken to develop it. County economy is an important component of regional economy in our country, which is quite fundamental to our national economy. Anhui Province is the one which is based on county economy. Since the reform and opening policy, county economy in Anhui province has made great achievements. However, compared with other provinces, it, on the whole, has fallen behind. As to how to develop county economy, different ideas have been proposed. In the thesis, the author makes field trips in 61 counties(cities) in Anhui province, and therefore, suggests the best way of developing county economy is to develop characteristic county economy, i.e. it’s better to make full use of the comparative advantages. The thesis comprises of 5 parts. Chapter One is an introduction, it provides an overview of the research background, significance and methods. And then, in Chapter Two, “the fundamental theory concerning characteristic county economy”, the three terms--characteristic economy, county economy, and characteristic County Economy are defined, followed by an inquiry into the subtypes, the developmental phases, the factors in characteristic county economy. In chapter 3, “The diagnosis analysis of characteristic county economy in Anhui Province”, an empirical analysis is made on county characteristics of Anhui Province, it is a comprehensive survey of the present situation, features and types of the characteristic county economy; and also, by means of SWOT analysis, some problems and causes in the characteristic county economy in Anhui Province are scrutinized.
