II II Abstract Based on field experiments and a systematic investigation ,the optimization control techniques of insect pests in middle-season rice fields along the Huaihe River of Anhui Were Studied .The main results were as follows: Quantitative dynamics of major insect pests and predatory enemies in middle-season rice fields along the Huaihe River The research results showed that the major insect pests were rice plant hoppers and Cnaphalocrocis medinalis ,and the major predatory enemies were spiders in middle-season rice fields along the Huaihe River of Anhui .In 2007 both the rice plant hoppers and Cnaphalocrocis medinalis happened seriously and their populations reached the highest levels on August15 and August 21 respectively . The number of predatory enemies was quite rich and in rising trend in time sequence .Predatory enemies had great potential control effects on insect pests . Effects of different insecticide treatments on major insect pests and their natural enemies in middle-season rice fields along the Huaihe River The research results showed that the major insect happened seriously in plots where no control measures were taken in both early period (the middle ten days of July to the early ten days of August ) and late period (after the early ten days of August ) of major insect pest occurrence .Alphamethin (the early period ) / alphamethin (the late period ) treatment had very low control effects on insect pests and destructive effects on predatory enemies .Fipronil / BT treatment, BT+shachongshuang / Fipronil treatment ,BT / Fipronil treatment and Fipronil / BT+shachongshuang treatment had quite good control effects on major insect pests and rather low effects on spiders in rice fields . Fipronil / fipronil treatment had significant control effects on rice plant hoppers, especially on Cnaphalocrocis medinalis ,but had relatively high effects on natural enemies .
