聊城大学专业硕士学位论文 ABSTRACT China has now a more extensive relationship with the international community in terms of politics, economy, culture and military defense. Its participation in various international conferences becomes more and more frequent. As a result, interpreting plays an increasingly important role. Providing a platform to uphold world peace, promote common development and strengthen the international cooperation and exchange, UN General Assembly, representing the highest level of the worlds high-end meeting, is mainly in charge of deliberation, supervision and examinations. In this report, the author chooses the remarks by President Obama at the 67th UN General Assembly as the simulated consecutive interpreting material, attempting to analyze and explore the problems that may be encountered in the consecutive interpreting, and putting forward feasible strategies. Derived from the study on interpreting and the translation of international conferences, French school of interpretative theory insists that the aim of interpreting is to pass meanings. Under the guidance of the interpretative theory, the author makes an analysis of some specific examples, taking into consideration of the constraints of background knowledge, personal state and consecutive interpreting notes. Targeting to serve a better consecutive interpreting in the future, the author also makes an analysis of the interpreting experience such as the usage of syntactic linearity.
