Methods A survey with EQ-5D and questionnaire was undertaken in 814 intentionally selected residents who were over 60 years ages. Univariate statistical method was employed to analyze the data. Results The general evaluation on quality of life of elderly persons in a community of the western city was better. The median of score of EQ-5D was 0.796. The evaluation of mobility, self-care and usual activities of elderly persons were better. The rates of satisfaction were 80.5%、93.6% and 86.9% respectively. The evaluation of body and emotion feeling was relatively poor .The rates of satisfaction were 46.9% and 79.2% respectively.39.58% of respondents used to go to the different hospitals for medical service, while only 28.75%of them choose community health service; The main influencing factors of Quality of Life for the elderly were age, gender ,average income per person in family, the main pocketbook, marital status, sleep quality, physical exercise and suffer from chronic disease or not. Conclusions It is necessary to enhance the economic situation of the elderly ,to improve the way of life ,and to establish an effective system of improve the life quality of the elderly.
