However, they also have many differences inevitably. Language must be developed from a certain situation, that is to say, a certain nation. Because of the completely different geography environments, weather, histories, politics and economical circumstances, the ancient Chinese and a part of westerners has created two fully different languages respectively to express the different world around them. So, there must exist plenty of semantic or pragmatic differences and gaps between two languages. And without sufficient communications and contact, this gap becomes broader and broader. Thus the two groups of these language’s speakers may form a shapely contrastive ways to express the same things gradually. As for this paper, I want to take a chance to analyze one dimension of these distinctions. Precisely, I try to conclude the different connotations and usages of color terms. Everything in this world has a certain color, and almost all of these colors own certain names in both Chinese and English. However, these colors are not merely used to define some physical attributes, they can be able to express some conceptual and abstract meanings as well. And that makes these color words become very flexible and casual to be used. As a result, it contributes to many distinctions in color terms of Chinese and English. Key words: COLOR LANG
