促进农村中小学英语教师专业发展的对策研究——以湖北省红安县为例-教育经济与管理专业论文

ABSTRACT
English is a global lingua franca, and widely learned as a second language worldwide, has gained more attention in China with economic and social developments and consequence globalization. More and more people keen to improve their English. English teachers especially English teachers from primary and secondary school play a vital and fundamental role to the students. In the 21st century, English teachers should enhance their professional abilities to meet the demanding of the new world. The competence and knowledge of English teachers directly affect the education quality and students’ English proficiency in schools. Dramatically attention
has been drawn to the English teachers’ development,which has long been the focus of the
English teaching field. Consequently, it is very important to study the current situation of English teachers’ professional development in primary and secondary schools especially in rural area. The author analyzed the current situation of school English teachers in Hong’an, Hubei, as
example of typical rural area, based on the theories including Adult Learning Theory,Reflective
Teaching and Teacher Professional Development Theory. From this study, the author hopes to have a scenario of the current situation of English teachers professional development in primary and secondary school in rural area in terms of quality of staff themselves, teaching and scientific research condition, training scheme etc. Furthermore, the author hopes this analysis could sort out the cause and consequence of teachers’ professional development in rural area, seek corresponding policies to improve English teachers professional development, provide inspiration for the research of rural primary and secondary school English teachers professional development.
