华侨大学硕士学位论文 II Abstract Abstract Independent tourism is a form of tourism which is traditional but fashionable.People planed the travel themselves before Thomas Cook organized the first tour in history.Now, with the supporting service facilities improvement, tourists’ experience accumulate,and the maturity of consumption concept, independent tourism has been a fashionable form of tourism to display individuality, go outside and relax.Independent tourism is also one of directions for urban tourism. Based on the above background, the author had put forward the proposition to study consumption behaviors of urban independent tourists.For a long time, consumer behavior has been a research focus in Western marketing scholars.Further research on consumer perception, expectation, satisfaction, consumption characteristics, can guide the formulation of marketing strategy.Tourism destinations determine tourism development strategy Through the research of consumption behaviors of independent tourists. The research adopts the method of combing quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis together.The case study of Xiamen summarize consumption behavior characteristics and influencing factors of urban independent tourists from the demographic characteristics, decision-making, tourism activities and tourism evaluation, then put forward measures for Xiamen to cope with the trend of independent tourism. The research shows that urban independent tourists in Xiamen travel for differences,knowledges,escape and relaxing, they get travel information in various ways, but mainly through tourism websites.They travel with friends or families in paid vacation and make decisions themselves or involved in making decisions.They prefer to economic hotel and family inns ,and they are satisfied with the travel of Xiamen. Age affects tourism purpose, gender and age affect the way of finding partners, income affects travel frequency, occupation affects tourism purpose, travel III 华侨大学硕士学位论文 frequency
