Spray trajectory examples classified in Injection timing or injected fluid * Injection pumps for both nozzles installed in the cover of VCC are actuated hydraulically and controlled electronically. Fuel was injected through a single Φ 0.16 mm hole under an injection pressure of 53 MPa and water was injected through a Φ 0.23 mm hole under an injection pressure of 30 MPa. Throughout this study, the water injection holes were kept larger in diameters than the fuel injection holes in order to keep the momentum of the water spray as high as that of the fuel spray, although the water injection pressure was much lower than the fuel injection pressure. The distance between the fuel injection hole and the water injection hole was set to 6 mm. The fuel and water sprays were injected into the chamber charged with air under a pressure of 2.5 MPa and at a temperature of 670 oC.
