The Russian Federation Security Council approved the finalized document at its 2 November 1993 session. The Basic Provisions of the Military Doctrine of the Russian Federation were adopted by edict No. 1833 of the president of the Russian Federation, dated 2 November 1993. The document consists of an introduction and three sections: the political foundations; the military foundations; and the military-technical and economic foundations of the military doctrine and conclusion.
