In order to solve the problems and to promote sustainable forest management, the inter- , - ( ) national society government and non government organization NGOs have taken a serial of actions. orest certification therefore was proposed by NGOs as a market tool to promote, , sustainable forest management. Started with introduction of Swedish forestry and forest certifi- cation, the background, origins and trends of PE C, SC and ISO14001 are analyzed. Some comments and suggestions are also presented on how to develop national standards on forest certification in China, and including the effectiveness of certification in improving the protec- tion and sustainable management of natural forest.
