Nowadays, it has been widely used in many fields, like communication, investigation and so on. Human beings body language can be founded anytime anywhere. Proper body language can improve the degree of communication, while improper ones could destroy it. Sometimes, body language, or in another word, nonverbal language can be more useful and more effective than the verbal language. This paper first presents some general knowledge of body language, like its characteristics, its features, its kinds and so on. Then it mainly talks about the relations between teachers and students. According to the study, body language is also a kind of communication on classes. Their relations are complementary. Finally, it states something about the application of body language on classes and how to use it effectively to improve English teaching. Keywords: body language; English teaching; complementary effect 摘 要 人类的肢体语言，例如手势、面目表情等等，是一种细微的交流方式。目前，对肢体语言的研究已经应用于诸多领域，例如交际、调查等。人类的肢体语言在日常生活中无处不在。 恰当的使用身势语可以提高交际水平，但是不恰当的身势语则可能使交际毁于一旦。很多时候，身势语，或叫无声语言较之有声语言其作用更加有效。 这篇论文首先探讨了有关身势语的一般知识：身势语的特点，种类等；然后本文重点探讨了师生间身势语言的关系。根据调查研究可知，身势语是课堂的交流方式之一。师生间的身势语言是互补关系的。最终，文章讨论了在课堂中如何恰当使用身势语，有效提高英语教学 关键词: 身势语；英语教学；互补作用 Table of Contents I.
