First and foremost, my sincerest gratitude must go to my respected and excellent supervisor, dear Professor Wu Jing, who gave me encouragement and inspiring guidance unfailingly and even took great trouble to proofread and improve my paper more than once. Under her patient instructions, I have made great progress not only in how to conduct research on applied linguistics but also in how to cultivate a rigorous academic attitude. Naturally, I owe a lot to many other teachers in the College of Foreign Languages, especially Professor He Jiangsheng, Professor Tang Chengxian, Professor Guo Chunjie, Professor Cai Zhongyuan, Professor Wang Xiuwen.
