The relationship among emotional maltreatment, aggression, resilience and peer relations within 4-6 grade pupils
Abract
A cross-sectional investigation was conducted among 1,000 grades 4-6 primary students who were choosed from three primary school by random cluster sampling. The Chinese version of the scale of emotional maltreatment, the resilience scale for Chinese adolesent, Buss Perry aggression Questionnaire, peer nomination questionnaire were used in the survey. The aim of this research is to get a picture of emotional maltreatment, aggression, resilence and peer relations, as well as explore the relationship among emotional maltreatment, aggression, resilence and peer relations.
The analysis results are as follows:
(1)The detection rate of emotional maltreatment among primary students was 34.31%, grade trends were not obvious; boys scored significantly higher than girls; the bad habits of parents were important factors affecting childhood emotional maltreatment; the pupil from urban school scored lower than students in rural primary school; the students from the family which total monthly income of 1,000 yuan to 3,000 yuan were more vulnerable to be emotional maltreated. (2)The students were in moderately aggressive level, and the fourth-grade students were in the lowest level of aggression, followed by the sixth-grade students, fifth-grade pupils were in highest level of aggressiveness; students who suffered childhood emotional maltreatment scored significantly higher than non-abused group on physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger, hostility and average aggression; and boys scored significantly higher than girls; the bad habits of parents were important factors affecting pupils aggression; aggressiveness level of rural primary school students was significantly higher than the urban, suburban.
