Based on this test,the swirl ratio and flow coefficient can be obtained,and the performance of the intake port can be evaluated. However,in China, Airway flow characteristics test bench for large bore engines is rare and there are few paper about the structure design of test bed either.The coolant flow field distribution has a significant influence on cooling the engine.But the cylinder head is complex, and the coolant flow pipes are in the cylinder head,it is hard to measure it ,especially the coolant flow field distribution of the large bore engine. The article is mainly about the designs of an airway flow characteristics test bench for the large bore marine diesel engine.First, make comparisons of domestic and foreign main evaluation methods,and then select suitable evaluation methods andtest method.Second,design the test bench with 3D design software,then select the equipment. Because of machining difficulty of the test bench for large bore engine, 3-D fluid flow software are used in this article to explore if the airway of small bore cylinder head can be used to simulate the airway of large bore cylinder head.The results show that the airway of the large and small bore cylinder heads have good coherence to experimental data.In this article, according to the complex characteristics of coolant flow field distribution of large bore cylinder head, a test bench is designed to measure it. On the Pitot tube principle,each waterway in the cylinder head should be measured in order to master the situation of coolant flow field distribution .
