College of Civil Engi neering, T ongji University, Shanghai 200092, China) Abstract :The construction ground of SinoJapan gallery locates at the alluvial flat of South Feihe River in Hefei, the foundation soil is heavy layer silt argillaceous recent fill, w hich is the tipped fill by dred ging w atercourse. According to the nature of location ground soil layer , the subsoil w ater level as w ell as the requirements of building, the reinforcement scheme by smalldiameter piles of limesoil is deter mined. T hrough the pile test, load test, static cone penetration test and light dynamic penetration test, the treatment effect of smalldiameter piles of limesoil on the new filling foundation is studied, and the intensity and deformation characteristics of the compound foundation are given. T he test re sults indicate that after limesoil pile treatment, the bearing capacity of surrounding soil of the com pound foundation enhances above 50% , that of the compound foundation enhances above one time, and the intensity and deformation of the foundation meet the requirement of engineering construction. The
