Abstract English test and English teaching are inseparable parts during the process of teaching, and the influence from test on language teaching and learning is commonly described as “washback”. Since 1993, when Alderson and Wall put forward ‘Washback Hypotheses’, the influence of tests on the teaching and learning has drawn increasing attention from language testing researchers. An enlarging number of empirical studies on the washback effects of language testing, especially of high-stake testing, have been conducted to further verify and enrich the theories and hypotheses related to washback. In China, more and more language testing researchers, wi
