It introduces works of key thinkers in the areas of cultural politics, global cultural economy, cultural industries, postmodern conditions, carnivals, and the concept of Cyborg. 這學期的文化理論這門課嘗試深入地幫助同學了解什麼是文化？文化的歧異性？文化又如何影響當今社會性別，階級，種族／民族等認同的形成？當代人文和社會學科對傳統文化觀點的反省和質疑又為我們開創了什麼樣的世界觀？文化目前有許多相當的中文翻譯出版，相當可幫助本課目簡介文化的主要論述與其緣起背景。 課程目標 Course Objectives o provide students an overview of contemporary cultural theories and cultural currents; To introduce major thinkers’ ideas that give a clear insight to how the understandings of people’s everyday lives can be theoretically advanced; To enhance students’ reading and comprehensive ability in cultural studies and international cultural affairs. 本課程希望同學們了解︰思想的演變絕非僅靠個人創意，對環境的警覺和與既存視野的對話尤其重要能為同學建立理論的基礎，能深入地了解當代文化景觀之產生機制、意義內涵、社會影響和分布。而「知識分子」、「文化霸權」、和「知識與權力」為本課程討論的主題。這門課也對如何運用所介紹的理論從事文化分析做初步的示範。 評量方式與評分比例分配 Evaluation Criteria Attendance and Class articipation 20% Oral Presentation 20% Midterm Exam 30% Final Essay 30% 課堂要求 Course Requirements Policies Class attend
