Abstract The topic of this paper comes from the National Natural Science Fund Item Research on public service facilities layout optimization of rural intensive economy developed area living mode .Rural residential land suitability evaluation is an important basic work in the construction of new country-side reasonably determine the suitable land use will have a major impact on the overall layout of rural residents, the social and economic development. Because of land suitability acted by many factors, the factors influencing the evaluation target (i.e. the weight of different evaluation-method), qualitative are not quantitative in suitable difference, which makes the evaluation with greater subjectivity. In order to provide a reliable basis for the construction of new countryside, it is necessary to explore a suitable method for rural residential land quantitative evaluation. The rapid development of computer technology and application of GIS technology gradually mature for city planning from qualitative analysis to quantitative analysis of the foundation. Based on the analysis of the research summarized in this paper, it discusses the rural residential land suitability evaluation method based on the GIS technology. This paper consists of seven chapters: The first chapter, the research background, research purpose and meaning, research content and technical route are discussed; The second chapter, it analyses and summarize the literature of rural residential land; The third chapter, from the present situation of the study area, it analyzes the present situation of residential land scale and distribution; The fourth chapter, from the present situation factor and policy factor，it analyses the terrain, river, road, a few relevant policy factors which effect on the residential land ; The fifth chapter, it summarizes the rural residential land use factors, and selects some appropriate factors to construct the index
