So I just wanted to know what the book was talking about. In addition, The Old Man and the Sea won Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and won Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. It was a hit at that time. This is also one of the most famous works written by Hemingway. As for characters, “The old man” —— Santiago is the most important character in this novel. He is an ordinary fish man with bad luck because he didn’t catch any fish during his eighty-four days’ hunting. But, if he quitted, he would never meet such a big marlin. Thankfully, he insisted.
