The amount of the residual or permanent disp lacement is determ ined by structural characteristics, includ ingmass and hysteretic behavior, asw ell as groundmotion. The residual displacement can provide the information of the earthquake d isas- ter assessment of the structure and the ind ices of strengthening and repairing structure after earthquakes. Th ispaper describes analyses ofmany single- degree- of- freedom b ilinear oscillatorsw ith d ifferent naturalperiods, damping ratios, ductility factors, b ilinear factors, and input ground motions.
