To develop the ability of appreciating and talking about short stories and dramas. 3. To arouse Ss’ interest in acting out a play and writing a play. 4. To educate and inspire students to have correct values. Teaching important points: Find out and master the characteristics of Henry in the Scene 1. To know the plot of the play. Teaching difficult points: To know the plot. To analyze the characteristics of Henry according to the lines they say. Teaching plan: First, ask Ss some questions to lead in the topic, and Mark Twain. Second, tell them the works of Mark Twain. Third, discuss “How to spend a large amount of money, for example, a million pound?” Forth, fast reading and detailed reading Teaching content: Unit 3 The million pound bank note period one warming up, pre-reading and reading. Teaching methods: Functional Approach Total Physical Response cooperative learning instruction Teaching design: The nature of English teaching is communication. So I will emphasize on the thoughts exchange with the students and try my best to make them involve in the teaching procedures. Use target language, make full use of the multi-media to enlarge the teaching methods. Type of organization: Task-based teaching, pair works and group works. Teaching Procedures: Step1. Warming up Purpose: To arouse the students interest in Mark Twain and his work. Ask students whether they like reading and who are their favorite authors. There may be at least one student who will name Mark Twain. If anyone mentions Mark Twain, I will continue to ask whether they have read any novels written by Mark Twain.
