T is paper focuses on solving mapping task from question variable to OWL elements,w ic belongs to component of question understanding in question answering system. T e paper presents a principled approac ,w ic builds on tokens of question and syntax or semantic relationsfrom NLP into set of vari ables and functions of constrain, and a sound optimizationbased assigning mec anism to find sound substitute in OWL knowledge for question variables.A preliminary evaluation on t e International WIC Institute know ledge and questions is presented.
