AbstractChinese Abstract Chinese first TV drama A Vegetable Cake was broadcast in Beij ing TV station in 1958．Since 1980s，TV started to be popular in China．With this foundation，as a narrative art，TV drama started to enter thousands upon thousands of Chinese families and the lives of the public with its audio and video advantages through the combination of reality and imagination． The TV drama with family ethics theme is of the various TV drama types． The earliest Chinese TV drama with family ethics theme is the long TV drama Desire that is broadcast in 1 990．Liu Huifang’S image as the kind·hearted traditional wife in Desire was deeply rooted among the people．Since 2004，the number of family ethics dramas in Chinese TV drama was increasing and their qualities were greatly improved， such Chinese Divorce and Double Sided Adhesive Tape．From 20 1 0 to nowadays， family ethics dramas are under mature period，and their contents are always relevant to the hotspot issues in today’S society．such as“leftover singles”，“home mortgage slave”．“naked wedding’’and“flash-like marriage”．Those excellent family ethics dramas not only achieve high audience ratings，but the wife images in those dramas arouse wide discussion among the whole society．From the kind-hearted Liu Huifang in Desire to the tough woman Guo Haiping in Dwe／／／ng Narrowness，those wife images have totally different life print，character disposition and individual concept， which means that the wife images in family ethics drama have gone through tremendous changes． Therefore，this essay screens the important drams in Chinese family ethics drama development，conducts individual analysis the nine products which win high audience rating and high public attention，and adopts the method combining text analysis，case study and comparison research to discuss the changes of wife images in Chinese family ethics drama well how the wives make breakthrough in their marriages as“the other，．This essay can be generally divided into three parts：
