华南理工大学硕士学位论文AbStraCl 华南理工大学硕士学位论文 AbStraCl Since the economy of China has been developing at high speed， the step t)(。citification is very fast． A1 the口opulation of citIes is growing raDidl v．And it has caused much commu cer．At the moment，many Chinese big cities facing traffic prob Lems． Basing the experience。f foreign cities． and the research the developmen c system of cittes， it is flefinite what is wise choice for Chinese big cities． That is： Transi t一0riented Development， fast rai lway transport skeleton， i ntegrate muti—transi t system． Some big cities in country have heen in the period of deVeloping railway transport，so the metro station，as of the most imp()rtant part ()f the metro system， is highly concerned，especially its location and the urban design for the place around it．Generally，those main【r}etro stations also important nodes in the structure of the city． This thesi would focus the public realm of these nodes， from the view of urban design．To induce method from the theories and to analyze selected built environment of transport nodes，and chen propose suggestion ror the is the main objective of this thesis．Subsequently，general and specific guidelines would be derived for transport nodes． The thesis is composed of fiVe parts． Part l is introduction， introducing the background， purpose and method of the research， and correlated concepts．Part 2 is literature review，introducjng the history and development of rai lway transport nodes， and the study on the relat ion between transportation system and land also discussing the idea and implement of TOD and Joint development．Part 3 is items study the publ ic realm creation based transport nodes： ldentity and social values for the space and place，accessibility，mobility and the connection()f different transport modes，with some typical examples．Part 4 is study which are two out of important nodes in Guangzhou：Haizhuguangchang，Tiyuxi Part 5 is conclusion，a set of guidelines for railway transport nodes j prese
