The MacArthur Health and Behavior Questionnaire Teacher Form 1.0 (Armstrong et al., 2003) was translated to Chinese by a bilingual researcher and his research assistant. This translation was then back translated to English by a bilingual master student who is pursuing her master degree in English Language Studies and she had a bachelor degree in Language and Translation. The back translation was reviewed for accuracy by comparing to the original translation and making small adjustments for clarity when necessary. The aim of this process was to obtain the conceptual equivalent of a word or phrase in Chinese, not a word-for-word translation, i.e., not a literal translation. Thus, items were adjusted slightly to consider the definition of the original item and translate it in the most relevant way.
