AbstractAbstract Abstract Abstract The bottomland refers to the land which iS silted by rivers，streams，1akes or brooks，and is the special land resource．It is not only the indispensable natural resource，but strategic economic resources to a basin．The bottomland sustainable use is the key to the sustainable development of economy and socity．It Can provides the reliable basis for consummating the evaluation index systems of bottomland use， optimizing the way of its disposition，improveing the level of management and realizating bottomland sustainable use．Therefore there are the important theoretical significance and the practical application value． On the basis of investigating and analyzing the existing research results at home and abroad，the evaluation index systems of bottomland sustainable use and the multi—level gray relation analysis model has been established，which are used in the ancient channel of Yellow River Basin．The major content are as follows： Firstly,the importance of evaluation for bottomland sustainable use and the research main content are expounded by researching the major problems in the current exploitation and utilization of bottomland in China, and the developments and characteristics of the sustainable use of land and water resources at home and abroad are analyzed and summarized． Secondly,this paper has systematically introduced the basic theories of the sustainable development and the evaluation indexs，and has applied system analysis method to establish the universality evaluation index systems of bottomland sustainable use，which contains four levels(the target level，the system level，the factor level and the index level)，and masses of indexes． Thirdly,this paper also has introduced the grey theory and the concept of矿ay relation analysis，and in detail elaborated the step of appling the multi—level伊ay relation analysis model．The research on the evaluation for bottomland sustainable use of the ancient channel of Yellow river as an example has bee
