华 中科 技大学硕士学 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract As 3D display technology and 3D video market have been well developed, more and more 3D productions come into our lives, and so do 3D films, which make o ur lives more and more colorful. However, as we know, 3D video contents two video s of left eye and right eye. If we still compress 3D video with old video coding standards, compared to 2D video, we need double storage capacity to store the 3D video, which largely restricts the wide spreading and transmission of 3D video. In fact, videos of the two views have so much inter-view correlation, so it can be used to reduce redundancy between the two views. Meanwhile, new decoder is needed to decode the compressed streams. For these reasons, based on Multi-View Video Coding standard and the open sources, a stereo video coding system has been developed. Afterwards, the decoding and playing systems of the streams are implemented on the NVD 3D embedded platform. The systems support MVC 3D video coding by designing a simple and friendly coding UI. The original inter-view coding algorithm is improved by the restrictions of disparity estimation. Through building the mips cross compile environment on Linux virtual machine, 3D video decoder is compiled on NVD. Finally, decoded pictures are displayed on 3D screen by OSDSurface interface of NVD. The whole systems are divided into three modules: encoding, decoding and playing. Test results showed that the coding UI can properly set encoding parameters and invoke the encoding program. The improved disparity estimation algorithm reduces about 10s of encoding time per frame. Decoding program also executes well on NVD, and displays every frame decoded. All functions of the entire systems have been achieved as expected.
