Proof Carry Code (PCC ) , a technology recently intr oduced by Necula and Lee, seems a rather ideal solution to this pr oblem . T he concept of PCC is very simple: have the code to pr ove itself , or in other w or ds , a pro- gram should car ry with itself a proof of its adher ence to certain safety policies. T his paper attempts to look into technical issues in PCC, com pare PCC w ith other methods, study the advantages and lim ita- tions of PCC, and identify its potential application areas . T he theor y of progr am ming languages , in- cluding type theory , logical framew ork , pr ogram verification and for mal semantics, w ill provide a flexible appr oach to secure problems involved in WWW applications.
