In contemporary British literary, The Golden Notebook is considered as her representative work and it also brings Doris Lessing the Nobel Prize for literature in 2007. The novel is a true description of the living conditions and struggles of females. The Golden Notebook is composed of one independent story and five notebooks, with no chapters for the whole novel. The notebooks have four different colors and they are black, red, yellow and blue which represent four different aspects of the protagonist “free woman” Anna’s life: professional life, political life, emotional life and psychological life. These four different roles in real life cause lots of troubles to Anna, because the segmentation of four roles in her life makes her personality split. Four notebooks are the mental course of Anna’s getting rid of split personality while the last golden notebook is a summary of Anna’s life experience. Doris Lessing shows the inclusiveness of her novel by using the disorder of content and structure. The thesis contains 5 chapters. The first chapter is a brief introduction to Doris Lessing’s life experience and her work. The second chapter points out the feminist theory and the impact on Doris Lessing. The third chapter is talking about the women freedom and the satire on “free woman” according to the author Doris Lessing’s attitude. The fourth chapter ana
