Wux i Research Institute of Petroleum Geology, Research Institute of Petroleum Exp loration and Production, SI OPEC, Wuxi, J iangsu 214151, China) Abstract: Thegeoche ical characteristics of the Lower Palaeozoic crudeoil fro Kaili and its adjacent areas in Guizhou Province has been analyzed with e phasis in this paper based on the characteristics of thesource rocks of the sa e areas. Theresults show that the stable carbon isotopic co position of the Lower Palaeozoic crude oil and oil sand is si ilar to that of the Lower Palaeozoic source rock extract, but obviously different fro that of the Per ian source rock extract, indicating that the crude oil is ore closely related to the Lower Palaeozoic source rocks. While the bio arker para eters of the crude oil and the oil sand, such as the regular sterane, the tetracyclic terpane and the ga acerane/ C31-hopane, are ore related to those of thePer ian sourcerocks, indicating that theo
