ABSTRACTThe ABSTRACT The agro-stalk is kind ofrenewable energy with ch锄卸抽暑ri刁ed by decamali刎On distribution and low alergy density．At present,llae main applications are di胤buming for cooking and smoldering combustion in fire pit for heating in rla-al pIace．The spontlmeotls application ofsmoldering combustion is a good choice in rural China for its economies,But beacause ofthe m research,there躺some problems for this application． The objectofthispaperistoinvestigatethe smolderingprocessexperimentally． In order to investigate the d均啦虻ted96c of agro-stalks smoldering．a natural convection downward forward smoldering stove has been set up,The fuel volulne ofthe sI撇was 52×40x55em．The temperatures inside甜ld outside lhe stove，the lilts residue of雄阳柏Iks，the mole content of c越bcm monoxide，carbon dioxidemldoxygeninfluegasescouldbe recordedonlineduringthesmolderingprocess, Experiments ofwheat Straw，COlTI stalk and舀ass at different bulk deIlsity of40．50 and 60ke．／m’have been carried out．Result showed that：(1)．Combustion rate ofgrass is quite lower then wheat目曲【w and eom stalk．The maximal rn档loss rate ofgrass with 40kg／m3 is 20e／min and the combustion time is 1485rain, while tIl砒ofwheat stlaw and corn stalk is 33．3．60e,／min and 364,534min respectively．Bulk de．sity within 40-60kg／m3 did 110t affect eombusdon rate of grass obviously while it did to wheat slraw缸ld tom stalk, (2)．All inside temperatures ofwheat s咖smoldering reached above 400C within 60rain and it showed抽 the materials smoldered almost simultaneously,The highest temperatures inside whellt straw and On dP Ⅻ舭ofstove during smoldering 897．141℃respectively．And temperature the outside slnface 0ft|le stovekeptabove40℃foratleast6hoursforwheat SllIIWand 17hoursforgrass．(3)．Themole ratioofCOto C02influegaseswas similartoeachotheramongthethreeexperimentalmaterials．Itw罄about0．4-0．5 atthe berryinga．ddescendedt00,1 mlasLThe2fcerdgemolel蛳ofCOtoc02wilhgrassandcornstalkisbelow 0．2andbelow0．3withwheatstmw，similartothatoftluegasesofco
