ABSTRACT: The development of food industry plays an important role in the national economy, and it is closely
related to the protection of intellectual property. There are superior biological resources and rich food materials in
Guizhou province, which has formed the special food industry. This paper analyzed the patents application including
the patent application trend, the application type, applicants compositionand food industrycomposition. It showed that
the A23 category of food industry patents was the most, and A21 was the least,which had a same trend with other
provinces of China and other developed countries. In addition, the amount of invention patents were more than that of
the utility model patent, and the patents of the enterprise were relatively larger. It indicatedthat the development of
food industry promotesthe increase of patent application, the patent right also protectsthe economic benefits of
enterprises and promotesthe econo
