Tea Ceremony The Art of Making Green Tea Among different types of Chinese tea , green tea is number one with the longest history ,largest variety， greatest production and highest consumption . First Burning incense（香） to get rid of the wild desires Before making tea , burn the incense here to help everyone calm down and get ready to taste tea. Second Clearing mind (Scalding （烫洗）tea wares) Rinse(冲洗) these clean and spotless glasses with boiling water to show respect for everybody present as well as for the tea you are about to drink. Third Palace welcoming the beauties(Put tea leaf into cups ) This procedure is to put the tea leaves into the teacups. Fourth Sweet dew quenches（浸润） the heart of lotus(pour water on tea leaf) Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty referred to the tea leaves as the heart of lotus “Sweet dew quenches the heart of lotus” ,means pouring a little amount of water on the tea leaf to moisten the tea. Fifth Phoenix noding head three times While pouring water into the tea, we hold the tea kettle up and down three times rhythmically as if the phoenix is greeting and saluting to the guests.
